On Monday afternoon there was a fatal accident on Route 10 and 202.
According to Granby Connecticut police, the accident happened around 1 p.m. on Route 10 just north of the state line with Granby. William Burgess, who was 91 years old, had been driving south on Route 10/202 in Southwick, Massachusetts, when he veered off the road and struck a rock. His car then flipped over and Burgess was pronounced dead at the scene.
Route 10 was closed at the Connecticut border for several hours as authorities responded to the crash. Granby police arrived at the scene at about the same time as Southwick police, but left as soon as they learned the crash was in Massachusetts. Traffic was then backed up into Granby, CT and also in Southwick, and drivers were encouraged to seek alternate routes.
Police continue to investigate the accident.
