On Friday April 24 a man had a lucky escape following an accident on the Interstate 91 northbound.
According to authorities, the accident happened about 7.30 in the morning near exit 27. A Connecticut Department of Transportation pickup truck was stationary on the right shoulder when it was rear ended by a 2007 Toyota Corolla being driven by 24 year old Jonathan Edwards of Meriden. There were two men in the truck and 53 year old Glenn Gove of Wethersfield who was actually in the truck bed putting out the last cone for the project, was thrown out of the truck, over the guardrail and down a river embankment.
Gove, Edwards and the driver of the pickup were all taken by ambulance to Hartford Hospital and luckily all three only had minor injuries.
Some of the lanes on the highway were closed resulting in traffic delays but were reopened by 9 a.m.
So far no charges have been announced.
